An Ethereal Farewell-to-Winter Celebration in Upstate New York

Gather Greene’s Scandinavian approach to country living includes relaxing in minimalist cabins, wandering through wooded forests and getting together with friends in a casual, comfortable and rejuvenating way. It was in that spirit that designer Danielle from Good Look'n and florist Amy from Luna Moss brought together a group of girls for a end-of-winter styled shoot that feels like a bachelorette party weekend.

The formula was simple: a beautifully set dinner table for lingering meals, a snowy forest foraging walk to get everyone outside, and hands-on crafts to bring the group together without a packed schedule. An easy way to reconnect with your closest friends before or after the business of the holidays.

We interviewed Elizabeth to get the whole back story behind the shoot and why Gather Greene made the ideal backdrop for a winter weekend with friends, and her tips for hosting your own cozy, no-fuss cabin getaway.

How To Host a Relaxing, Nature-Filled Winter Bachelorette Party

We wanted to create a story that inspired not just a moment of celebration but an experience of ritual and simple pleasures. Our take on a more restful and relaxing bachelorette paty weekend with a minimalist approach to decor and planning.

The ultimate goal in planning a getaway or celebrating a friend is creating an opportunity for rest, reflection and above all, connection.

Fun Ideas for Hosting a Winter Cabin Weekend With Friends

For this girls weekend, we focused on the warm and natural materials that compliment the aesthetics of Gather Greene, and enhance the retreat-inspired nature of our weekend away:

• A simple and luxurious brunch spread awaited the ladies after a relaxing morning
• During lunchtime we hosted a spoon carving class.
• Later, a relaxing afternoon of foraging led into time spent chatting and dancing around the fire, making for the perfect restful atmosphere in which to rekindle cherished relationships, and to focus on celebrating with beloved friends.

How to Choose the Perfect Venue for a Winter Cabin Getaway

When planning a winter cabin weekend, the location should do most of the work for you. Use this checklist to find a spot that feels cozy, social, and easy to host in colder months:

• Look for cabins with shared gathering spaces
Prioritize properties that balance private cabins with communal areas. Think fire pits, long tables, or lounges where everyone naturally comes together.
• Choose a setting that feels secluded, not isolated
Wooded landscapes and quiet surroundings create a retreat-like mood, while still keeping paths, cabins, and gathering spaces close and walkable.
• Favor design that supports winter living
Find spots that offer fun winter experiences and ways warm up. Think: festivie fireside activities, winter hiking, steamy saunas, s'mores kits, snowshoeing, winter dining
• Check for off-season group availability
Winter often brings more flexibility for group bookings. Off-season weekends can make it easier to reserve multiple cabins and enjoy a slower, less crowded experience
• Think about what guests can do without leaving the property
Forest walks, fireside hangs, board games, onsite restaurants/snacks, or sauna access keep the weekend flowing without needing a packed itinerary.

Properties like Gather Greene check all of these boxes, making them ideal for winter weekends centered on ease, connection, and gathering without fuss amongst the private wooded landscape and cozy cabin lodging.

Inside Scoop: Gather Greene also offers opportunities for group weekend getaways during their off-season.

Winter Welcome Gift Ideas for a Cozy Cabin Weekend

The welcome gifts set the tone for the weekend, with curated selections of local treats from favorite artisans, all wrapped up with a personalized tag:

1. Our weekend began with a beautiful itinerary designed by Old City Mailroom, and a welcome gift filled with the essentials for a heartfelt celebration retreat.
2. The warm, minimalist cabin interiors of the venue perfectly complimented handmade soaps and bath salts from Even Keel, and wooden combs from Spire Wood Shop.
3. We also treated the guests to cozy robes by Odd Bird Company, and bundled against the chill with woolen blankets from Evangeline.

Gather Greene is an Ideal Girls Getaway Location

We love that the venue feels cozy and spacious at the same time. With lots of gathering spaces, as well as private cabins for personal reflection, it makes for the ideal location for an intentional retreat.

A Weekend Highlight

A favorite part of the weekend was simply being together. Sharing meals, spending time outdoors, and easing into unstructured moments as a group. Another highlight that really made it feel extra special were all of the beautiful details that Danielle from Good Look'n curated. Each embodied the overall feel for the weekend; locally sourced, filled with natural beauty, and the perfect compliment for a restorative weekend.
