In the twinkling desertscape of Texas, polished glass structures, invigorated by metal and stone, capture the eye and fascination of any traveler lucky enough to roll through the small town of Driftwood. As rural as it may be, Driftwood endures as a slice of Americana that melts a dreamer’s cowboy heart, so it’s fitting that tucked away in its countryside community is a spectacular home-on-the-range venue that’s equal parts stylish modernity and old-world elegance.
The Greenhouse at Driftwood, owned by the same family for generations, has become a beloved destination for romantics wanting to tie the knot surrounded by century-old oaks and cacti. Just southwest of Austin, the venue is as much a savior of its surrounding environment as it is a key component of the scenery itself. The gorgeous open space uses rainwater collection as its primary source for flora and fauna alike, while helping conserve local wildlife and bird habitats. Plus, the grounds are beyond stunning.
So naturally we couldn’t stop looking over the pictures of this marvelous southwestern photoshoot by Loft Photography and had to know more. We chatted up their team as we oooooh'd and ahhhhh'd over their work and the beautiful styling of Highland Avenue.

What have been some of the highlights of your experiences at the venue?
Friendly and accommodating staff, versatile property for events, and ALL THE CACTI!
Tell us about the Greenhouse at Driftwood venue.
From Lindsey of Highland Avenue (inspiration shoot designer / stylist): It’s a magnificent home nestled in the beautiful hill country in Driftwood, Texas dating back three generations and you can feel how much love continues to be poured into it. The owner’s father has a passion for horticulture and built two stunning glass-enclosed greenhouses onto the main home. He filled them with lush plants from around the world, which are still cared for by family. The property also has gorgeous live oak trees that create a beautiful canopy over the grounds; it’s enchanting.
What makes The Greenhouse at Driftwood a great backdrop and setting for photos?
Beautiful light, gorgeous and versatile property with plenty of great locations for photos! We couldn't have stumbled across a more perfect backdrop for our subtly southwestern inspired shoot. We used the outermost greenhouse, lush with desert plants and cacti, as the main backdrop for our shoot, which tied in seamlessly with the cacti touches in our inspiration shoot centerpieces by Gypsy Floral, as well as with Coco Paloma's cake adorned with air plants!
Did you have any favorite design elements that you saw at the venue?
Hands down the outermost greenhouse dedicated to desert plants and cacti - we at Loft Photography are obsessed with all things cacti, so that was the cherry on top!
Did you do anything in the surrounding area while you were there?
Driftwood is full of great wineries and breweries tucked in the beautiful hill country!
