Pros (+) The location on Gulangyu island is superb. It is a characterful and well-renovated heritage building with a lovely garden. The owner and staff went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one.

Pros (+) Staying at Heitan was a lovely experience allowing a calming and relaxed getaway from Xiamen city. It was lovely to drink tea under the trees in the courtyard and to bask in the atmosphere. The staff at the hotel were also very friendly and helpful, they kindly met us at the pier from where our ferry arrived and helped direct us to the hotel. Cons (-) Ridiculously high price. This is much, much higher price than the similar hotels around. I should cancel my booking and book a hotel myself on the island. I feel I had been taken advantage by this hotel and booking.com.

Pros (+) The hotel is situated on a gorgeous island just a short boat ride from Xiamen. We were given a fantastic room that far exceeded our expectations and really made our stay on Guyangyu special. The reception staff took care to meet us from the boat and communicated via WeChat very well, they even recommended an excellent restaurant. We will return.

Pros (+) That they looked after us on arrival and showed us a few of the streets in the neighbourhood. The hotel was clean and staff friendly
Cons (-) When we were finished, the staff was not going to help us back to the ferry. and we're not calling for someone who would do that.

Pros (+) it looks very comfortable, relaxing and the front view of the hotel looks nice. it had a nice, good and simple breakfast and suits us very well
Cons (-) there were quite a bit of mosquitoes in the bedroom. you could benefit from putting a insect screen by the windows to prevent this
