location and friendly staff
Cooked breakfast was not great, seems to have been left a long time in bainmaries. Fried eggs like rubber. our evening meal on the first night was very over cooked - second night was good. think we were charged for an additional breakfast (was already paid for ) but did not get an itemised bill so not sure.
Beautiful rooms and communal area
Nothing
The hotel was excellent, the staff welcoming and helpful and the rooms lovely and clean. Impressed with fresh milk in the fridge and loved the scan key card rather than plastic which reacts with credit cards used at other hotels.
The views . The balcony and gardens
There needs to be air con in the rooms
The upgrade to a deluxe room was great, so very large bright room, comfortable super king size bed, large balcony, good bathroom.
Room temperature was too warm, pillows uncomfortable. Breakfast choices were ok, but not great for the quality and price of this hotel. Breakfast items running out, scrambled eggs well over cooked, ran out of orange juice and didn't replenish.
Lovely grounds & outside seating area Elegant & Characterful building Not too far from London Wivenhoe is a lovely village
The confusing two wings, and having to get different lifts to access different sides of the property.
Lovely building in beautiful grounds. Excellent staff
The food was disappointing
Flys in our room, dining room and Breakfast Room
Friendly restaurant staff, good selection of food and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel and rooms were clean.
There was a lot of flies around maybe because the hotel is surrounded by open fields? The breakfast buffet could have had some covers on the pastries, flies were on them so we did not eat them.
Lovely rooms. Comfortable bed. Very nice staff.
