Cons (-) Villa Fontaine has no street frontage so getting a taxi, other than hailing on street, not possible. I booked and paid for a standard double room 16sq metres, sleeps 3. The room I was given was lucky to be 12sq metres, barely big enough for one person. As you can see from photo i had no where to put case except at end of bed, which meant opening window or adjusting the blinds was extremely difficu...

Pros (+) Spotlessly clean, comfortable room, great public bath. Lovely staff. Really liked the hotel. NB this hotel is near Osaka/Umeda stations but the main Shinkansen line goes through Shin-Osaka station, which is a few quick subway stops away. Osaka station near hotel is quite complex to find your way around. Leave extra time for travel!
Cons (-) Central Osaka is a maze and it’s not that easy to find your way around. Our map apps didn’t function very well. This makes it all more exciting, but be sure to build in extra time to catch trains etc.

Pros (+) Fabulous location. Very clean. Great facilities including face creams etc. Also directly opposite was a tiny little whiskey/gin bar whose owner made serving drinks into an art form. Pure joy to watch and delicious! Seriously brilliant!!
