A beautiful, old-timey hotel in Hakone, full of charm. The staff was exceptionally kind, the facilities immaculate, and we absolutely loved the outdoor bathtub. The room was spacious and equipped with every amenity we needed. Some minor issues, but none are the fault of the hotel, the staff, or the location—which, like everything in this extraordinary country, Japan, remains absolutely perfect.
That said, the problem lies neither with the hotel nor the setting—which is stunning, surrounded by a uniquely beautiful natural landscape—but rather with the growing presence of Western tourism, as ourselves. Instead of quietly appreciating the onsen, some guests chose to play loud music through BT speakers, completely disrupting the calm and disregarding the local culture. Wonderful bath on the balcony. Amazing massage at the spa - would 100% recommend. Food was nice and really traditional. Beautiful location. Nice drinks machines and gestures around the hotel.
It is very dated and needs maintenance. The carpet in the room was heavily soiled and sticky and the walls were dirty. Wouldn't stay again - would pay more to stay somewhere clean and modern. The food is very traditional so beware if you are a picky eater.

Convenient location, very traditional looking but had a high quality and standard hotel. The breakfast was traditional Japanese made the stay authentic. Excellent service.
Nothing to report was perfect
Location very good, nice room and we enjoyed the outdoor bath.
As we don’t read or speak Japanese we found the food difficult as we did not know what we were eating- breakfast was the most difficult.
The room was huge and very clean. The baths plus the in room bath tub in the balcony were so nice and relaxing. The hotel was classy, the staff very friendly. Bonus points for the delicious Japanese breakfast and late night free noodles as well!

We had a very pleasant room, with a mountain view because we had chosen to have a private outdoor bathtub. The room was a decent size. The bed was fairly comfortable. The breakfast was Japanese style and quite extensive - rather too extensive really. We also had dinner on one of the nights (top tip, you need to book for dinner in advance to be sure of a table). It is not cheap, and it is not quite as luxurious as it looks on the photos on their website, but the pricing is in line with other hotels in Hakone - which is very touristy and therefore quite pricey.Read more
