The rooms were so clean and the colour palette that was chosen was aesthetically pleasing too. They had just built this hotel and it's still been built so we imagine after all it's done, it'll be a place guests will love to stay at. It's one of the better hotels in Mannar.
The only issue was that it's in Talaimannar and 30 minutes to Mannar town itself so you would need a vehicle. Also, I wish there was tea or coffee in the room. There was a kettle but there wasn't any tea or coffee available in the rooms and having that would have been a big plus for them. The resturant is also still been built so once it open, I hope they provide western and local cuisine for the ...Read more
New rooms - cold drink service Great pool Generous Tamil breakfast Bike rental - perfect to see local sights Local bus stops in front of the property - very nice staff to facilitate my onward journey Was able to leave my things in the room for a bit longer which made it easier and smooth with the short time available
Need to arrange transport from the train station prior to arrival - no TukTuks around late. I got picked up by motorbike (thanks to facilitation by kind staff at the station as I had no network/mobile data).
Clean, well equipped, modern hotel with great facilities.
It's located in a run down, out of the way part of Talaimannar.
Clean, fresh, cared for. Everything worked. The staff are fantastic and Niro will provide suggestions for everything including what to see and where to eat. His restaurant recommendation gave us the best meal yet in Sri Lanka which is down near the Dutch Fort in Mannar. We had the chicken fried rice, chilli beef and ghee roti. Ice cream to finish! Loved it! They also filter their own water and pro...
Would like a small table and chairs in the room but they may have provided it anyway had we asked.Read more
Great welcome, clean and spacious rooms, new resort, warmhearted family business on a high level, tasty and authentic kitchen. Locals from Colombo are spending their holidays here. Great nature around and historical sights in 10min car drive close by.
it was great.
The breakfast and dinner were excellent. The swimming pool was lovely too. The owner was so incredibly helpful, he could not do enough to make our stay informative and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend The Sanctum.
Cannot think of anything.
We had the best stay at the Sanctum. We came for Kitesurfing on a whim as didn’t know what the spot would be like or any infrastructure related to kitesurfing. Niro very quickly organised a tractor to take us to the windiest spot, which blowed about 5 knots more than kaliptya every day (we didn’t know this before going) as well as a lunch package to eat out at the spot. The spot was world class wi...Read more
Epic spot all round. Came to talaimannar for kitesurfing and the spot was a lil trip north of the hotel. Niro pulled a couple strings to get us out to there on a tractor loaded with our gear and food to last us the day. Epic service, real friendly staff and the food was mint. We were always well feed every sitting 👌🏽
I don't really have anything i disliked about the Sanctum. The place is still in the process of being built, which seems difficult considering the infrastructure in Sri lanka. Givin time, i think the Sanctum will be an all-time spot once there are social areas and the rooftop built and ready for guests. Still a premo spot.
Good time to visit as not yet finished and you get useful attention from the owner. Will probably be more expensive when it’s all up and running.
Siting of electrical switches (including by shower in bathroom).
The property was managed well, by a very enthusiastic owner who is hands on. Interacted well with the guests and supported us with sightseeing and the excursions.
Meals require quite a bit of advance notice, hopefully they could do better once construction of the kitchen/ restaurant is completed.
