Convenient location, spacious room with well-appointed bathroom.
Rooms can be susceptible to outside noise from the elevated roadway.
- Great views of Sumida River and Skytree from the rooftop lounge - Quiet due to the location, great for peaceful walks by the river, but still close to Ryogoku Station - Large room size for Tokyo, with split bathroom design - Beds are large and very comfortable, and bedding had light aromatherapy that helped us sleep - Pretty good price for Tokyo these days
- Location-wise, Ryogoku doesn’t have many options for food and shopping - Pretty far for any sightseeing in west Tokyo (though good accessibility to east side, such as Akihabara, Asakusa, Kinshicho) - No laundry facilities in the hotel, so we had to plan around that - No lobby lounge to relax in, water filter/dispenser, or amenities - Opened in 2020 but was already showing some wear and tear, and...Read more
The place is opposite sumo area and 3 mins walk to the train station. 7 eleven right next to the train station. The staff were really nice and helped with forwarding our suitcases to the next hotel.
I would rather it had coin laundry facilities the service they have is per cloth so a bit pricey
Delicious breakfast and a very spacious room Close to train station as well
Nothing
Attention to detail in every way Nothing was too much trouble Lovely room ,larger than we expected, food in restaurant was excellent
Nothing at all
Second time at The Gate, just a lovely hotel in a great area. Comfortable, clean, refined, and the breakfast really is impressive.
I didn't realize I booked an office-room, which came with a computer screen set-up etc. A little silly, but didn't make the trip worse.
A great 4-star hotel with an excellent European-style breakfast and a fantastic restaurant for dinner. The area is pleasant, located by the river, with a nearby metro station. However, it’s about a 20-minute taxi ride to Ginza. The staff is very attentive and helped with all our questions. The price is reasonable for a spacious room.
The only downside is the lack of shelves for storing clothes
The Gate hotel was in a quiet, pretty location on the river. Although not in one of the central areas it was a short walk to the underground and a quick trip into the centre. Our room was nice and spacious. Breakfast was excellent, especially the pasta, eggs Benedict and French toast. The restaurant was also excellent value for lunch and it was great to enjoy the rooftop area to read/chill or for ...
Location, staff, cleanliness: all great. The room was quite large by Japanese standards.
The only thing that I missed was a laundry room. The hotel only had a laundry service, which was much more expensive than a laundry room would have been. Other 4-star hotels that we stayed at in Japan had laundry rooms.
