The room itself was okay, decent size, though would've preferred a narrower bed to have more space on the side to access the bed. The location was great, right next to the main shopping street and with good access to metro/train.
The breakfast came in a couple of preset choices. At 2800 yen per person it was not worth it. I would've preferred it to be a buffet style instead. Furthermore, the bed was too firm. If you like to sleep on your side it is quite uncomfortable.
Felt very high end and location was great for downtown and the market. There was an Onsen also but we didn’t use it.
Bed was a little too hard for me - make sure you tell taxi drivers exactly which Mitsui Garden you are staying in or you will end up at the wrong one as there are 4 in Kyoto
Clean and nice layout of room, overall very bright.
Aircon was very bad, air flow and temperature was not consistent. Outside sink was too shallow, resulting in basin area being wet when used. No self laundry service available.
We really enjoyed our stay at Mitsui Garden & highly recommend this hotel. The hotel is beautiful & in a great location. The rooms are lovely, bed comfortable & great bathroom facilities. The hotel staff were just lovely. We were welcomed from the minute we arrived & nothing was any trouble. We were definitely stay at Mitsui again if we return to Kyoto.

The property immediately gives a high class feel the moment you walk in. It’s in a great location near several bus routes and stations. My husband and I enjoyed walking around the area to discover shrines and unique stores. The public bath didn’t seem to be highly utilized, but we both enjoyed the bath and used it every night. This is a fantastic property. Location is excellent, very close to Gion, shopping and subway. Beautifully decorated, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, friendly staff and awesome onsen!
One receptionist name Otani was very rude, talks in non respectful way
The room was big compared to hotel rooms in Japan. It was comfortable. The hotel was in a perfect location. Just a few meters from the shopping streets. The bus stop was 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Having a smoking room inside was a huge plus for me :-) The staff were very friendly and their English was good.
