The staff at the hotel are wonderful and incredibly friendly. We felt welcome and enjoyed our stay immensely. The location of the hotel is perfect.
Location was excellent. Added the breakfast option which was incredible and delicious. Loved that breakfast was served in our room. Service was excellent. They were able to accommodate our request for additional services such as luggage forwarding and an additional night.
This might have just been our most comfortable stay ever. The rooms were convenient and clean and the staff was so helpful! Superbe localization, yet not noisy at all, great staff always ready to help out. Building is beautiful. Our room was spacious and very functional. Breakfast was amazing.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was here at Matsui Honkan. The location is excellent and near all of the markets. The room was big and very clean, with lovely decor. We decided to order breakfast one day and we were so glad we did- it was such a special selection of wonderful dishes. We also used the warm pool one night- very relaxing. Beautiful Ryokan with Amazing Service, it really made the stay in Kyoto magical. Location is pretty much perfect, staff were very kind and helpful. I highly recommend it.

We really liked the comfort of this Ryokan for our Kyoto stay. The location is perfect, close to many sights and restaurants. The room was very spacious and we appreciated the pyjamas, the ready boiling water and tea continuously available in the room, and the many other attentions like the morning coffee stand at the door and the departure gift. This ryokan felt a bit less traditional than other ones in smaller towns (e.g. the souvenir boutique inside), although we did not really mind this.Read more
