Great location, lovely room with large balcony looking out over Matera. The room was clean and large, and the bathroom was also very modern, clean and large. The hotel was perfectly located in the centre of Matera with lots of lovely restaurants and cafes nearby. I would highly recommend this property!
The door on the room was a sliding internal door, which we felt was a bit below par. The small fridge in the room was very noisy which woke us up in the middle of the night. The breakfast was ok, but we would have liked the opportunity to take a coffee from a machine ourselves instead of to order one each time.
Great location, clean, characteristic room, and lovely, helpful staff. They were very thoughtful and generous, especially during our stay over New Years!
Everything about our stay was exceptional, though the breakfast had room to match the same high standard as the rest of the hotel.
The location is excellently positioned within the sassi, and it’s also close to a paid car-park. Staff are very friendly and made good suggestions to the itinerary and restaurants.

Good location, friendly staff
Beautifully presented cave room and reception/breakfast area. The staff member Sara was exceptional and communicated with me about parking options, helped with our check in/ bags, talked to our walking tour operator when we were running late, letting us leave our bags at reception until we left after lunchtime.

We had a beautiful cave bedroom. We were welcomed by Sara who went out of her way to explain about Matera and recommended a very good restaurant to us.
The coffee was a bit cold but otherwise the breakfasts were very good.
The hotel is in the centre of the historic Sassi districts, the rooms were fabulous and you can choose from a terraced room or a suite in a cave! The breakfast was great and the front desk (Sara and Gianvito) were extremely helpful for us planning our trip. Not only for sites to see in Matera but also helped us plan Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. They were so nice! Highly recommend.

Beautiful cave hotel in a great location
Because of the location you need taxi if bringing big luggages. No elevator and there are steps in the hotel room. But these are non issue. The staff can arrange for the taxi and can help bring the luggages to the room.
