Pros (+) So much to love here: a unique history and gorgeous architecture of the house, exceptional breakfast, good dinner, world-class homemade gelato, a clever use of the onsen, attentiveness by most staff, the lovely garden. Comfortable bed and the incomparable spaciousness of the rooms. Overall a very pleasant and memorable stay. Great for people looking for something different from the rest.
Cons (-) Noticeable teething problems here and there, which shouldn't be the case at this price point: There is no shower cap or body lotion! The road-facing rooms on the Western-style pavilion have wafer thin windows due to cultural heritage protection laws, they said.
