The use of the Mayan Sauna was a great experience.
Excellent food. Very nice outdoor pool. Lovely paths down to the lake.
I wished that I could speak the local language, but all staff were very gracious to me.
Good location and 5 minutes walk to the lake
It was noisy and the ceiling wood was old
On the positive side, the hotel property is beautiful, or at least you can tell it used to be. It is in need of a facelift. The location on the lake and the scenery surrounding it is gorgeous. And the people who work there are very nice. The pool was as advertised and the wood-fired sauna was neat. Kinda like being a pizza in a brick kiln.
On the other hand, we didn’t see another guest the entire time we were there. I don’t think there were any others. So the vibe was a little creepy. And good luck getting there if you drive. Unless you drive a tuk tuk there’s only one combination of roads wide enough for a car to access the hotel, only it’s not clear at all what roads those are and which direction you are supposed to drive on them....Read more
The Termasca!! It’s included with your room. Basically a natural stone sauna close the lake you can use an hour a day. The property has large natural areas and a beautiful view of the volcano San Pedro and lake. In the morning it was fantastic to walk to the Lake and just sit in the beauty of the area. The staff is exceptional as well. The hotel rooms were clean but very outdated.
Outdated rooms. All the noise from the outside is heard and when people came in late, the hallway amplified the noise. It was hard to sleep. Fans would have helped when the room got warm which is not always since the temperature drops at a night and it was pleasant. But even if the windows opened, it’s too loud. It’s hard to reach on your own The roads to the town are dangerously curved. Google Map...Read more
The hotel is beautiful. The staff was friendly and always had a smile on their faces and ready to assist. The restaurant was great, the food was delicious, fresh and very tasty. Much of the produce was grown on site in their garden. The sauna was great, and the private beach was nice. We loved it!! This was the first time that I have ever considered living somewhere other than California.
The hotel does need some love. The beds were extremely hard and not very comfortable. I would suggest ceiling fans in the rooms. It was pretty hot; and maybe updating the bathrooms.
Large room and lovely grounds
Grounds look a little tired in some places that gives the impression it’s had better days
Very impressive property. They have a helipad and a dock on the lake… you can take a private boat from any town on Lake Atitlan. The staff was super professional and friendly. Very clean.
Nothing not to like.
Rooms were super spacious. Grounds are simply beautiful. Pool was great and best of all, they have Temascals you can book at no extra cost.
The hotel has been FOR SALE for a number of years. Which might be the reason for accumulating deferred maintenance... One piece that has to be fixed is the insulation between the wood burning heating unit and the temascal. Very smoky inside... can't be healthy... You should also be aware that you are right next to some evangelical monster church... weekends are pretty loud... they love their speak...Read more
Flowers on property are beautiful. Lake Atitlan is beautiful
Truly awful. Rooms are filthy. Looks like an old hospital or insane aslyum. Hidden charges on your credit card when you leave. No hot water. Everything is run down. Do not stay here. Drunk locals passed out on the lawns. Waste of money. Charged $20 USD to have clothes washed- most every in all of our travels. Horrific experience. Really ruined our time in Santiago and they have given this beautifu...Read more
