The game drives were the highlight. Checkin was a little awkward but it worked.
WARNING, they do NOT honour your booking dates. We booked for Feb 15-17 2024 and confirmed back on Sept 22, 2023 on Booking.com and via e-mail. Literally 2 hours before check in, we received a call stating that they do NOT have a room for us on the 15th and that we have no place to go. Not having a game drive vehicle with a top canopy cover to provide some shelter from the elements. We were told the ones with covers were all in use and it was raining so not pleasant despite having a rain poncho provided
The service was very personal and welcoming. We were met with genuine kindness.
Staff were kind and supportive, game drive was awesome, good food.
The Eco Camp is a bit too far from reception.
We loved our two night stay at Gondwana. The game drives were great and in particular, our guide Jaym was so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. The swimming pool is a lovely area to chill after a morning game drive - we spotted buffalo and zebra from the pool. Portion sizes were generous. We loved our room!
The breakfast and dinner options could’ve been more varied or included a daily special - I imagine it would get quite repetitive after a few days. It wasn’t possible to book a treatment at the spa which was a shame. I would suggest trying to book in at least one month in advance. Wonderful employees, so friendly and knowledgeable! The food was fantastic and the camps and tents in the Eco-Camp and Pioneer Trail absolutely stunning! Such a shame the Pioneer Trail is closing, it was the perfect mix between activities of hiking and game drives where we got to see all animals we had on our list including the big 5!

Very beautiful house in a private setting. Lovely to have antelope grazing in front of our deck and pool. Staff were friendly, especially Douglas our butler. Food was very good.
Booking process was terrible and I would not recommend booking with Gondwana on that basis. Several months after booking, one Saturday morning I received an email demanding payment by Monday morning to a South African bank account that I could not verify outside of the Booking.com process. Amazing level of service from all staff. The guides, Corlea and Abi in particular, were incredible. Given plenty of time on the game drives to ask questions and see plenty of animals regardless of the weather. Sundowner drinks on the drive are fantastic and the accomodation and food was exceptional.
Loved it all!
The setting is beautiful, with sweeping views of a valley. The Villa was spacious, clean and lovely.
There is no hospitable feeling, the staff view you as bothersome. The game drives were very disappointing, this is not a safari, but you are charged safari prices.
