Cons (-) We asked for a walk in shower as I have a problem knee at the moment.Also a non dog room preferably not on the ground floor Which is were we stayed before.

Cons (-) It doesn’t have the condition of a 5 star. Our room had damp, cracks and a mirror coming off the wall. Pool area really showing its age. The restaurant isn’t good value and was not at the level we expected. Dust everywhere and cleaning equipment just left in hallway

Pros (+) Bovey Castle is an amazing venue in beautiful location and has amazing services...however for the price and 5* hotel we experienced some downsides we wouldn't expect ..for example I booked surprise for my girlfriend and when we arrived it wasn't prepared and I had to ask for it which took away moment of surprise. Pros (+) Lots of agency staff who, whilst generally pleasant and helpful, were not able to deliver the best service through lack of knowledge. A difficult time for hotels such as this so ones expectations are probably less than they might have been in the past.
Cons (-) Quite a long wait between starters and main courses at dinner (the food was good though).

Pros (+) Have dinner, food was superb. We have stayed at Bovey at least 10 times over the years, it really seems the food offering is a lot better than it was and service was superb as well.

We had a fantastic stay at Bovey Castle Hotel. It’s so beautiful inside and out. The staff are friendly and attentive and we had a great stay. We particularly loved the different cosy areas to sit with the open fires and tgat dogs are allowed to enjoy the spaces. We will be back with our Labrador sometime. Thanks for a lovely stay.
