Stunning location and grounds, 2nd time I have stayed here when working in Cologne. If you wanted somewhere secluded and peaceful to get away from the noise of Cologne centre then I don't think you will find better. Small high street just outside with nice food places and other amenities.
Wifi was terrible, the staff tried to fix but it was still terribly slow for a 5 star location.
I have stayed in this hotel many times, and alyays my impressions from the stay were positive. But not this time. I booked a junior suite as in my previous stays, but instead I teceived something else. For 480 euro per night I got a room with two small dungeon- like windows(picture attached)- the only sourse of a daylight. That the receptionist attempt to convince me is a junior suite. We loved the hotel as it was beautiful and offered many services. Restaurants were nice, especially la Trattoria Enoteca. Room service with breakfast was good.
The classic cheese and charcuterie served during breakfast were disappointing. The restaurant Salvadore Dali Bar was underwhelming and didn't met expectations according to the price. My biggest issue was that the bouquet of flowers that I ordered many days before arrival wasn't delivered as scheduled. I even had to recall it to reception in order to offer it to my wife.
delicious breakfast, very nice Spa (swimming pool, sauna's), beautiful 'Schloss', luxurious room
The beds were better than in many other hotels, but did not live up to the excellent standard of the rest of the hotel
Great experience overall, very friendly staff with good service, good facilities
Overall great property, only issue was the air conditioning which did not work in our room - and didn’t get fixed despite letting the staff know, the suites are on the top floor and get heated up quickly
True 5* luxury hotel
Nothing
The most luxurious experience we could have asked for. An amazing free spa and great level of service.
If you are doing a Cologne city break it is far away. But great transport direct to the city. It was nice to see the suburbs and wider Germany as part of the trip if that’s your thing.
One staff member was very unhelpful and I had to change my travel plans and leave earlier. They recused to refund me my stay and had me pay 2 nights even though I stayed only 1. I booked a suite and yet the breakfast was not included.
Our dinners at the Dali bar/restaurant were particularly enjoyable! Nice food/drinks, great service, pleasant mood and very nice live music. All the restaurants on side are great (we tried them over few visits) but the Dali quickly became our go-to for a relaxed evening. The spa is of course excellent, and we just love wandering around the hotel (treat yourself with a night visit of the library!).
We had some issues with the room (heating was off, then too strong) that took us several calls and/or visit to the counter to resolve. Nothing too bad, but a bit unfortunate to deal with that over a short weekend visit.Read more
