After El Camino Travel launched their inaugural trip last fall to Nicaragua, the country has been the closest thing to a second home as they continue to offer curated trips chock full of culturally immersive activities paired with a professional photographer in tow.
Nicaragua maintains a sense of wild, undeveloped beautiful landscape dotted with beautiful places to rest your head. So what is El Camino style? Where does founder Katalina Mayorga like to sleep while in Nicaragua? Here are a few of their favorite spots with photos by Nomadic Habit.
A design dream. Tribal is a small boutique hotel in colonial Granada with seven rooms complete with the most perfect pool in the heart of the courtyard. Every detail of the hotel is thoughtfully placed and purposeful. All the rooms open to the courtyard, full of lush palms. The rooms and common space will have you asking, when can I move in? The fresh mojitos and top-notch breakfast do not hurt.
Aqua Wellness Resort, nestled in Redonda Bay on the Emerald Coast can be described as jungle luxe. Completely private and comprised of treehouses and suites, Aqua Wellness was built with an eco conscious as to not disturb the natural environment. Expect monkeys to hang around your private dip pool on your balcony. Lounge at the private beach, or partake in other activities like kayaking and cliff repelling.
Looking for a few waves? Maderas Village near San Juan Del Sur is the perfect spot to catch some waves and relax in the jungle with howler monkeys. With an array of lodging options like casitas and cabañas, Maderas is the perfect place to hang in a hammock among the trees and indulge in a good sunset. El Camino loves to start the Nicaragua trips here to set the tone for complete relaxation. The nightly family dinner offer a sense of community unlike anywhere else.
A private island with an infinity pool overlooking a volcano? This dream is a reality when staying at Isleta El Espino. Currently ultra private with just three rooms, El Espino is the perfect quick getaway from Granada located in Lake Nicaragua. Run completely on solar power, this island oozes with magic. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset from the yoga deck, or enjoy a delicious meal prepared with local ingredients.
