The world’s most exotic escapes are sometimes the most dramatic as well. That’s certainly the case of the first-ever hanging lodge. Prepare to have your jaw drop and your heart stop—and start packing.
This week’s #BirthdayBucketList is Skylodge Adventure Suites, one of the absolute wildest places you can stay on this planet. Totally transparent and securely hanging onto the side of a mountain, these three single-room getaways are truly a sight to behold in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, Peru. Imagine a dazzling green valley with the view of from a luxury hotel’s top-floor room, yet with an experience akin to camping or tiny living. There’s hardly a more unique stay out there.
An Adventure From Start to Finish
Even just getting to Skylodge is an adventure! The journey includes hiking a trail with ziplines or climbing a 400 foot via ferrata—essentially a protected climbing route. Once you’ve arrived, though, you can relax in your suspended bedroom. Just be ready for breakfast and gourmet dinners with wine.
Hanging Out With a Suite Life
Looking like cozy spaceships hovering beside the rock wall of a mountain, each unit is 24 feet long and 8 feet high and made from aerospace aluminum and weather-resistant polycarbonate. To keep the atmosphere inside keen, the capsules each feature six windows and four ventilation ducts. They’re solar-powered with four interior lamps and a reading light.
Each unit comes with four beds and a dining area too. And yes, just in case you were wondering, each suite comes with a private bathroom separated from the rest of the unit by an insulated wall, so you don’t have to scale a mountain in the middle of the night.
So, are you ready to relax in the most adventurous way ever?
